Amrit Bharat Scheme:

Under the 'Amrit Bharat Station' project, 15 more railway stations will be upgraded in the Southern Railway, railway officials said.



Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the work of upgrading 508 railway stations at a cost of Rs 24,470 crore in the first phase under the 'Amrit Bharat' scheme to renovate major railway stations.



Accordingly, in Southern Railway, 25 railway stations including Chengalpattu, Perambur, Guduvanchery, Thiruvallur, Tiruthani, Kummidipoondi, Arakkonam, Jollarpet, Salem, Karur, Tirupur, Bothanur, Tenkasi, Virudhunagar, Mayiladuthurai, Thanjavur, Villupuram, Nagercoil are in progress.


These works are scheduled to be completed by February next year. Similarly, in the 2nd phase, we are going to select and upgrade 15 railway stations.


For this, the work of improving one railway station for each assembly constituency is going on,'' the railway officials said.
